Remote Deploy error: "Cannot connect to destination host. The RPC server is unavailable (4241143)

When remote deploying the LiteSpeed configuration, the following error message is displayed.

Cannot connect to destination host. The RPC server is unavailable.

Required TCP ports are being blocked by firewall.

RPC Service is down.

WORKAROUND 1:

Ensure that the required ports are opened bi-directionally if a firewall is used. Below are the ports used during remote deployment.

1. The ports being used by the remote deploy are:
   • SQL Server port 1433
   • TCP 135
   • TCP 1041
2. The above ports were being blocked by the firewall and seen from the firewall logs. You can enable the firewall logging by going to Windows Firewall | Advanced tab | Security Logging | Settings | Click all Logging Options | OK. From the pfirewall.log file, you will see which ports are being dropped when you are trying to remote deploy.

WORKAROUND 2:

Ensure that the RPC Windows Service is running from the target machine.
