Replication fails with “Unable to cast object of type 'Vizioncore.Vmware.Vim40.VirtualEthernetCardDistributedVirtualPortBackingInfo' to type 'Vizioncore.Vmware.Vim40.VirtualEthernetCardNetworkBackingInfo'.”
When the VM replicas were made by the Replicator 3.0 and then integrated in to vRanger 5.0.When editing settings on one of the replicas inside vSphere client, there are no network cards.
This issue seems tied to vm's backed up in vSphere with distributed NIC assigned and replicated to a vSphere host using replicate as.
Check to see if the source VM has multiple NICs and/or if the NIC is assigned to a network that is part of a Distributed switch. The replica should have the same configuration as the source.
1.Locate replicated VM, select VM in inventory View, and click “Edit Settings”
2.Now in “Edit Settings” we need to add a Virtual Nic to the Virtual Machine. Click on “Add” and select “Ethernet Adapter” and click “Next”
3.The “Adapter Type” should be “Flexible” or “E1000” (if you were using a different adapter type, please select that type here).
4.Select the appropriate “Network Label” (vSwitch) to connect the VM to a VM Network and click “Next”.
5.Click “Finish” to save your changes.
6.You may need to re-add IP information back in as this may show up as a New NIC.
Please attempt to run the replication again
