When doing a restore of a duplicate database backup, ensure that the name specified in the Auxiliary Instance field in the Clone Database tab of the restore is added under the Plugin for Oracle on the destination server. Also ensure that the database is started nomount for the same name and TNS is configured properly for that name.
When restoring a RAC database, use the RAC database name so that the files will be restored to the correct location for when it is converted back to RAC.
