Starting on SDA version 8.0 Get and Set Computer Name became the default naming rule for the appliance.
Legacy tasks such as wsname and Collect/Apply computer name tasks are removed if they were not in usage by any of the existing images.
It is also possible as of now to delete the legacy Collect Computer Name and Apply Computer Name tasks and replace the same with the new built-in Get/ Set Computer Name tasks.
The new built-in tasks for Get/Set Computer name replace currently wsname.
Get Computer Name
In order to use the Get Computer Name rule:
From the Library module, select Pre-Installation Tasks.
Click on the Choose Action and select the option Add Naming Rule.
Once the page is loaded, give it a name, for example, [SDA] - Get Computer Name.
Select the architecture and verify that the full command line is filled with the right commands and parameters for it to be executed as is.
Is is possible to modify the switches in usage in order to have a dialog, for example.

Save your new task.
Set Computer Name Task
The second part of the task is to Set or Apply a name to the computer. You have two options for this depending on the time that you would like this action to be executed.
1) As a Mid-level task
From the Library module, select Mid-Level Tasks.
Click on the Choose Action and select the option Add Naming Rule.
Once the page is loaded, give it a name, for example, [SDA] - Set Computer Name.
Select the architecture.
Select one of the options available in the Select Method of Naming drop-down field and verify that the full command line is filled with the right commands and parameters for it to be executed as selected.
It's possible to modify the switches in usage in order to use a data file. In this scenario, it's necessary to replace the variables in the brackets"<>" to the fields that you intend to use from the file.

Save your new task.
2) As a Post-Installation Task
This task will take place once the Windows operating system is already deployed. Basically, you will see different commands available in the Full Command Line field.
From the Library module, select Post-Installation Tasks.
Click on the Choose Action and select the option Add Naming Rule.
Once the page is loaded, give it a name, for example, [SDA] - Set Computer Name PO.
Select the architecture.
There is a drop-down field in order for you to select the method for the naming. In this option you can use a data file, for example.
Once you select the option, verify that the command in the Full Command Line box will be modified to reflect that option.
It's necessary to replace the variables in brackets "<>" to what you intend to use from the file.
Make sure that the option Reboot Required is marked so it's applied correctly.
Be aware that this task should be place before any Join Domain task in your list of tasks on the Imaging plan.
If get set computer name from previous versions are still in usage, it's recommend that a new task is created using these new options as they will be supported by our Support Team and they will also receive frequently updates from the appliance itself during nightly updates.
