Configuring Email Notifications for the Database Cartridges - there seems to be a few different areas to do this - please list?
1. Direct Rule modification - Adding Email Action:
All Foglight Cartridges (DB Carts, OS Carts, ect.) can use the method to define Email Actions directly in the rule itself. This method gives the greatest custom-ability to control rules at a granular level, however customized rules are more difficult to design and are not supported through Quest Technical Support (option is to utilize Quest Professional Services - PSO). How to create a simple email action in a rule:
Admin Console | Administration | Rules & Notifications | Manage Rules | find and click on RuleName | Conditions, Alarms & Actions tab | Action subtab | Action, EmailAction, Add
Note that many Cartridges come with EmailActions defined Out-Of-the-Box (OOB) using the method above. Simple tweaks to these OOB actions are supported.
2. Global Administration.
The Database Cartridges (and other Cartridges) are moving to a Global Administration way to configure email notifications. As an example, SQL or Oracle Database Cartridges 5.5.4.x and later, email notifications can be managed at:
Admin Console | Databases | select checkbox for one or multiple SQL or Oracle Agents | click on "Administer Agents" | click on "Email Notifications" or "Alarms" (depending on cartridge version - "Alarms" is the newer location)
Other Cartridges may use their own areas for Global Administration, but the concept is the same and the product as a whole is moving in this direction.
The latest and greatest information regarding configuring email notifications for that specic agent type/ cartridge version, is going to be in the User Guide for your cartridge type/version - easily accessible by going to: Admin Console | Actions panel (right side panel) | Help tab | expand Cartridge TypeName | User Guide | seek info on configuring email notifications.
