Specifying a new location for the xcAdmin database -
Description
After moving the xcAdmin database to a new SQL server instance, the ControlPoint application does not load.

Cause
The connection string used to identify the SQL server instance where the ControlPoint service database (xcAdmin) is located is incorrect.

Resolution
- Open the ControlPoint Configuration Site (e.g. http://server:1818).
- Select the ControlPoint Settings list and expand the Miscellaneous and Custom category.
- Edit the xcAdminConnectionString parameter so the data source reflects the new SQL server instance:
The ControlPoint service account needs specific permissions to the SQL server instance to allow the Full Discovery process to run smoothly, as well as for functionality of a number of our reports. To ensure the appropriate permissions are assigned, perform the rest of the steps below:
- Navigate to the C:\Program Files\Metalogix\ControlPoint\ControlPointFeatures folder, open xcClient.exe.config using any text editor (e.g. Notepad) and update the line below to reflect the new SQL server instance:
