Often companies will have a mixed Exchange environment for a time while moving from one version of Exchange to another. This may be an extended period of time and often the requirement to archive email and have them available remains.
Archive Manager has the ability to work with both of the Exchange versions which are present in the environment at any given time. This is accomplished by way of the version of MAPI that is installed on the Archive Manager server. The MAPI version must be one that is able to connect to both of the Exchange versions present in the environment.
Example: If Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2007 co-exist then you would want to install the latest MAPI CDO (downloadable) and install it on the Archive Manager server as this CDO has the ability to connect to both.
