In many cases a license error can be the result of an improperly generated license file which does not match the machine it was generated for. In order to verify the cause of such an error it is necessary to examine the license file.
Checking the license file involves three steps.
1. Open the license file in a text viewer.
2. Collect the required information from your computer. This includes the hostname of your PC as reported by the OS you are using and the version of the software you are trying to install. For further information, see Solution 4914:
https://support.quest.com/SUPPORT/index?page=solution&id=SOL49143. Compare the information you collected with that in the license file. This will require a basic understanding of the license file. For more information, see Solution 4900:
https://support.quest.com/SUPPORT/index?page=solution&id=SOL4900To verify that the license is correct, please compare the hostname and license version to those which you have collected. If one of these values appears incorrect, then contact Quest Support. When contacting our support team please include the host name, cpu count and OS of your machine. In addition, please attach the license file in question and a short description of the field(s) that appear to be a problem.
