When trying to create two instances in DB2 with the same name, the following message appears:

"SQL1005N  The database alias "MYDB2" already exists in either the local database directory or system database directory."

The alias "MYDB2" already exists in the catalog.

RESOLUTION:

The DB Alias "MYDB2" already exists in the DB2 client catalog. It's not possible to catalog two aliases with identical names; it's a restriction of the DB2 client and all database aliases must have a unique name.
