List of tasks available from the main menu

The main menu of the Console Program groups tasks into categories, as shown in the following image.

The following table shows you the list of tasks that you can perform under each menu item. The tasks are the same for physical and virtual appliances, except where noted.

Managing user accounts

You can add, modify, and remove user accounts. You can choose to enable SSH for any account.

Adding new user accounts

A Console Program user account provides access to an appliance. Good security practices recommend changing the default vendor password before an appliance is connected to the network. Also, each account must be assigned to an actual user.

When specifying a password, you need to select a strong password.

From the main menu, select Console User Accounts.

Select New Console User.

In the Status screen, select OK to return to the Console User Accounts.

Modifying user accounts and enabling SSH

A common reason for modifying a user account is to update the user's password. You can also change the user's SSH access permission.
