The Spotlight tool connects to the monitored instance using a Microsoft library. That library supports either Windows authentication or SQL Server authentication so Spotlight is limited to using either of those. forms of authentication. If Windows authentication does not work then the alternatives are to either use SQL Server authentication or create a trusted domain that can be used.
