Explanation of vReplicator 3.0 Source/Target Licensing (4045377)

The vReplicator 3.0 licensing requirements for source and target hosts are not well understood.

For basic operation, vReplicator only requires the source server to be licensed.

For failover operations, you may perform a failover to an unlicensed target (DR) host.It is important to note that, as part of a failover operation, the original replication job is reversed – the DR site becomes the source and the production site becomes the target.If the DR host to which you failover is not licensed, these reversed replication jobs will fail. You may, however, perform a second failover operation from an unlicensed DR site.

Note that failover operations must be initialized via the Failover button.
