Description
Backups utilizing quiescing fail with, "Error: API Call failed with message: An error occurred while saving the snapshot: Failed to quiesce the virtual machine." vCenter shows, "An error occurred while taking a snapshot: msg.snapshot.error-QUIESCINGERROR. An error occurred while saving the snapshot: msg.snapshot.error-QUIESCINGERROR." Looking at the VM that failed in vCenter, VMware Tools shows "Not Running".

Cause
This is a known issue in VMware Tools. -
Resolution
