When you drop a database or restore a database, Toad-SS 5.6 gives you the opportunity to close existing connections.
The code for each is distinctly different and the drop syntax is specific for that function. I would like an enhancement request that he when you RENAME a DATABASE that the syntax for closing the existing connections also be used.
I never just run the Wizard, I always run the script in an editor session .I have saved off Both the Drop set single user as well as the close connection, so I can use them.
I especially like the Set single user with rollback, for that would need to be included in the generated syntax.
The reason why I pull the syntax from the wizard is simple. Sometimes it is difficult to close all the connections, especially if an off-shore development group doesn't do as requested. Sometimes I have to run the close all connections before the set single user.
Submit an enhancement request out on the IdeaPond. Voting results will be considered in a future release of Toad for SQL Server.
