User creates a custom Code Snippet. User would like to back it up, copy it to another computer, or share with a coworker.
RESOLUTION:
There is currently no GUI for doing this. An enhancement request has been submitted to the development team for consideration in a future release of Toad for SQL Server.
WORKAROUND:
Shut down Toad and browse to this directory:
Windows XP - C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for SQL Server Beta 5.5\Templates\Snippets\
Windows Vista, 7 - C:\Users\<username\AppData\Roaming\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for SQL Server Beta 5.5\Templates\Snippets\
This directory should contain your snippets. Find the snippet you want to send to the other user. The file name will be the same as the snippet name. As long as you don’t have the same file names, it should not overwrite the other user’s snippet
You can also go into Toad and create a folder in the code snippets window. Put all your snippets in that folder. Then it’ll appear in: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for SQL Server Beta 5.5\Templates\Snippets\<your folder>
Then just send the user your folder.
Lastly, if you have a shared network drive, you can put that in Tools | Options | Environment | Network Share | Shared Snippets Folder. This will create a folder in your Code Snippets window. Anything you drop off in that folder will be placed on the network and shared with your coworkers.
