After installing Toad, the following error displays every time SSMS is launched Error message still displays even after selecting 'Yes' to uninstall the Add-in
"The Add-in 'Quest Toad Add-in for SQL Server Management Studio 2008' failed to load or caused an exception.
Would you like to remove this Add-in?
If you choose Yes, you will need to reinstall the Add-in to use it again.
Error message: Class not registered"
SOLUTION 1:
Uninstall the SSMS add-in:
1. Run CMD with administrator privileges.
2. Navigate to Toad install directory, "SSMS Installation" subfolder, e.g. on 64bit machine:
cd "c:\Program Files (x86)\Quest Software\Toad for SQL Server 6.x\SSMS Installation"
3. Run the following command where third parameter is TSS install directory. e.g.
To uninstall Toad for SQL Server 6.1 Add-in on a 64-bit PC:
SsmsInstallation.exe Uninstall "c:\Program Files (x86)\Quest Software\Toad for SQL Server 6.1"
SOLUTION 2:
*** Quest Software does not provide support for problems that arise from improper modification of the registry. The Windows registry contains information critical to your computer and applications. Make sure you back up the registry before modifying it. For more information on the Windows Registry Editor and how to back up and restore it, refer to Microsoft Article ID 256986 “Description of the Microsoft Windows registry” at Microsoft Support
1) Fully exit all Toad.
2) Go to the Registry location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Shell\AddIns\Dell.Toad.SSMSAddin35.Connect
3) Change the value of 'LoadBehavior' to 0 (zero)
