What is the Memory Sorting option in the Data Grid for?
The Memory Sorting feature loads all data retrieved in the data grid to memory to allow users to sort the data without needing to re-query the database.
With the “Memory Sorting” feature checked, Toad will then fetch any remaining records so the entire dataset is in the data grid. Any sorts done from that time on will be done in memory with no further queries sent to the database.
The message, "All records must be fetched to enable memory sorting. Fetch all records?" will appear when selecting Memory Sorting and if not all the data has been retrieved.
