Go to View | Toad Options | Editor | Behaviour and, on the right panel, uncheck the option "Backup editor every X Minutes".WORKAROUND 2
If the User Files folders is in the Network then:
Go to View | Toad Options | General and, on the right panel, move the user files folder to local (choose Use Default or user local default or select a local path manually).
