When executing a script with dbms_output, it does not display in the DBMS tab. This worked fine in Toad 9.7 and in SQL Plus but not Toad 10.
When an exception is thrown, Toad is unable to gather and display the DBMS_Output information. If an exception is not thrown, the DBMS_Output should be displayed without problems.
This is an issue with Toad 10.5 using 8i and 9i Oracle databases. The issue is addressed with Toad for Oracle version 10.6.
But this issue is expected for connections to an Oracle 10gR2 and up database. Because of the way Oracle collects the output and is diverted when an exception is thrown in Oracle 10gR2 and up, to collect and display the information after an exception would not be efficient and Toad will not do this.
Toad 10.x and newer will not display this information when working with Oracle 10gR2 and up.
Use right click | Execute | Execute PLSQL(no debugger) to run the script in editor.
