Launching Toad is slow, taking a long time, consuming resources, or hanging on computers with McAfee security or anti-virus software.
McAfee Anti-Virus is scanning Toad or the Toad directories when launching Toad. This scan is taking up a large amount of CPU and RAM and can cause Toad to take several minutes to start up or appear to hang. When McAfee is turned off or disabled temporarly, this issue does not occur. Older versions of Toad did not have this issue.
Toad may have launched without issues in the past but started having issues with a McAfee update or Toad upgrade.
McAfee's virus definitions or other protocol may not have been updated to allow Toad to run freely or is flagging Toad as a virus.
RESOLUTION#1:
The latest McAfee Dat Version 6222 addresses Toad slow launch and performance issues.

1. Go to Start | Programs | McAfee | VirusScan Console
2. Right click on On-Access Scanner and select Properties. Alternatively, you can right click on McAfee OAS from the System Task Tray and select On-Access Scan Properties.
3. Select All Processes on the left hand side column. Select Exclusions on the right hand side tabs.
4. Click the Exclusions icon. Click the Add icon. Then browse to the directory where Toad is installed.
5. Select Toad.exe and click OK. Click OK again to add this exclusion.
6. Some systems maybe more restricted than others. Add additional exclusions if necessary:
7. Click OK when finished with exclusions. Toad should now launch without being scanned by McAfee. Otherwise, contact your network or security administrator for further assistance.
