When using code assist, Toad gives a Stack Overflow error and this leads to Toad completely shutting down abruptly.
Type something like:
select max(length(a.ACODE) + length(A.
from some_tbl a
When first typing in select max(length(a. Toad gives the parameter hints pop up and the column pop up at the same time. This seem to be a conflict.
Choose the column needed from the column drop down and continue
...select max(length(a.some_col)+ length(a.... but this time a blank outline of the parameter hints pop up displays (just the frame, no info or color), and no column pop up displays at all. Toad hangs for a second, then gives the Stack Overflow error
The application has encountered a problem. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Clicks OK to this error and Toad completely closes out.
Code assist popup menu conflict and causes Toad to shut down.
Disable one of the display options
1. Go to View | Options | Editor | Code Assist.
2. Disable the option to Display parameter hints after typing open parenthesis or the option to Display pick list after typing object name followed by a period.
Apply the changes and open a new editor window for these changes to take affect.
This should be fixed in Toad for Oracle 10.5.0. Visit (https://support.quest.com/Search/SearchDownloads.aspx) to download the latest version of Toad for Oracle.
