In order to perform a silent install for Toad for Oracle, you must first extract the MSI file from the Quest Installer. This MSI is then used with the installation variable (ADDLOCAL parameter in the examples below) to define the type of install you want to perform.
For Toad 9.5 and Toad 9.6.1:
To install silently you need to extract the MSI file. You will need to packer.exe to extract and this must be requested from Support. Open a service request on the Manage Service Request page | Submit a Service Request.
Please note that this version of Toad is no longer supported, so it is highly recommended that you download the latest version of Toad for Oracle and the relevant installation instructions from:
1. Request a download of Packer.exe from Toad support.
2. Follow the silent installation directions in the Getting Started Guide for Toad for your version of Toad.
The packer.exe will extract the installers into seperate folders from the Quest Installer and uploads the files into the directory you have specified. You can then open the new folders to view the MSI files. The command to extract in the command prompt is as follows:
packer.exe extract "path where the installer executable resides" "extraction path"
packer.exe extract "C:\temp\Toad for Oracle 9.6.1 Commercial.exe" "C:\temp"
For Toad 9.5 please go to the TOAD_Standalone\9_5_0_31 folder and execute the ToadforOracle95SetupFull.msi file. During the installation, check both the Server and Client option together and deselect the Citrix to avoid errors from appearing when launching Toad after entering your license key.
To perform a silent install of Toad (ver. 9.6):
You may download the Toad Getting Started Guide for Toad 9.6 PDF file from the website as well. Please refer to page 17 of the documentation (page 25 of entire PDF file).
The packer.exe will extract the program in individually in separate folders. For Toad 9.6 please go to the Toad_Standalone\9_6_1_1 folder and execute the ToadforOracle961SetupFull.msi file. During the installation, check both the Server and Client option together and deselect the Citrix to avoid errors from appearing when launching Toad after entering your license key.
For Toad 9.7 and above
The packer.exe is already built in the Quest Installer.
1. Extract the MSI files by running installer from command prompt and include at the end, the /extract command.
"C:\Documents and Settings\JSmith\Desktop\Toad DBA Suite for Oracle 10.0 Commercial.exe"/extract
2. This will launch the extract wizard. Complete the wizard to extract the individual installs' msi files. This extract will include a ReadMe.text that will give you further information about installation the files.
