Toad's Data Grid in the Schema Browser won't save data entered in there if the column is named "TYPE" and of type varchar. Previous versions of Toad were able to insert records using the grid in Schema Browser.
Steps:
1. In Schema Browser | Table | Data, enter data into column TYPE
2. Post and commit changes (click button buttons in the grid toolbar)
3. Click refresh for schema browser
The data that was just entered is now missing. If running a query for the data in the editor, the changes are again not reflected so there was not post and commit of the changes made in the schema browser's data grid.
WORKAROUND:
Perform Edits done in the Editor Data Grid or as Insert/Update statements run in the Editor are written as expected to the table. Commits are made and the data will not disappear unexpectedly.
STATUS:
Issue fixed in version v10.6.1. The latest version of Toad for Oracle can be downloaded at: http://support.quest.com/.
Please note that a fix for this will depend on what's allowed by Oracle.
Is it suggested that reserved words not be used as column names.
