I am unable to set up email alerts in Toad even though View | Options | Email settings has the correct information: SMTP Server, Username, Password, To, From. Currently Microsoft Exchange Server is being used and it does not require port numbers. However, leaving the port field blank changed it to another number. The user is able to ping the SMTP server, but is still not able to send out a test email.
Please verify that the Exchange server allows this function. Your network firewall may restrict you from using this feature. There are several ways to verify this:
1) Check if your company allows Pop3 accounts.
2) Open the Toad.elf file in Notepad and check for any socket errors. By default this file is located in the C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\User Files directory. If you find socket errors in the Toad.elf file, refer to MSDN's website "Windows Sockets Error Codes" for additional information on the specific error:
