Toad for Oracle - Release Notes and Guides
NOTE: You must use the 32-bit version of Toad with the 32-bit Oracle client and the 64-bit version of Toad with the 64-bit Oracle client.
In short, install the Toad for Oracle bit version that matches your installed Oracle client’s bit version.
A quick note of reference about the DB Admin module, it is installed in every Toad for Oracle install.
It is the license key that will either enable or disable the DB Admin module. The DB Admin module add-on is not the same as the Toad for Oracle DBA Suite.
The DB Admin module add-on is an optional add-on for Toad for Oracle. The Toad for Oracle DBA Suite is a complete bundled set of Oracle DBA applications and tools.
Launch the Toad for Oracle installer via Open Run as an Admin.
After the Preparing configuration files animation stops and the License Agreement window opens, select’ I accept these terms’. Click on Next.
In the Product License Window, Toad may or may not find new style license key. If it finds a new style license key, continue with the install.
If a license key is not found, one can click on the ‘View key button.’ Under the ‘License tab’ one can input the License Key and the Site message. If this information is inputted properly, one will see the License details in the lower half of the License tab. Click the Next button.
On the Product to Install window one is given an option to select what products to install within your Toad for Oracle bundle. Keep in in mind that one will need the proper authorization to use any applications that are installed. Clicking on the products right side is a ‘More Info/Custom Install Button’. Clicking on this button reveals application details such its version, new features and enhancements. In the lower right corner, one can see where the product will be installed as well given the option to install the application to an alternate path by clicking on the folder icon.
Continuing to the left most corner there are two Quest Software Installer Links. These two links are useful to click, if one should encounter install problems with the install. There is an Installer log that generates and email that can be sent to Support that can be investigated further towards resolution.
In this demonstration, we will keep it simple and only install Toad for Oracle and Quest SQL Optimizer by selecting the appropriate check boxes. (Toad Data Modeler users: make sure to check all DBs in addition to the default installed Oracle database.) Click the Install box in the lower right corner.
After a few minutes we can see the over install status in the Perform install progress window. If all was proper, one will see an Installation completed message in the lower right corner.
If one wanted to install any of the previous applications (i.e. Toad Data Modeler), simply run the installer again and follow the same steps. Click Next.
Take advantage of registering for Toad’s web-based training and ToadWorld to get the maximum output from your Toad for Oracle experience. There is an option for Auto updates in the lower left corner. Click Finish to complete the Installer.
In this demonstration, we did not have a license key, so we would manually authorize the key through the product. Either through the initial launch will prompt you or from the main menu | Help | License … input the License credentials properly: the license key and the Site Message. If possible, copy this license key information for it is case sensitive.
