Error received in the Schema Browser | Table | Data tab upon selecting a CLOB datatype:
"Data Type is not supported."
1. Upgrade the Oracle Client to match the database version.
2. Select View | Options | Datatypes | Under the Native Oracle Types Heading, verify that the CLOB datatype is checked.
3. On the Toad Database Login Window, Uncheck "SQL *Net Compatible Net8" option.
NOTE: Option applies to Toad for Oracle 7.x. - 8.0. If this option is visible, but greyed out, select File | End all Connections.
4. Verify that the Client version is 8.0 or above.
5. In some instances of 9i and above, the CLOB datatype does not appear when the Toad shortcut is forced to look at the OCI location. To verify this please perform the following:
a. Close Toad | Right-click on the current Desktop Shortcut and select Properties | Target Command line.
b. Delete all of the information from the end of the Target command starting with "Ocidll=<Oracle Client Path>" entry. For example, a forced shortcut would look like: "C:\Program Files\QuestSoftware\Toad\Toad.exe"ocidll=C:\oracle\ora90\BIN\Oraclient9.dll
WARNING: The deletion of the Ocidll path in the Target properties may result in some connection problems. If this occurs, verify that all Oracle registry entries are correctly set up. Please consult your IT Department or Quest Support if this error occurs.
