When I double-click on any User in the Schema Browser to open the Alter User window, it immediately hides into the background of Toad and it appears to lock up Toad. I have to use the ALT + F4 hot key to close the active window in the background for Toad to work again.
I had upgraded Toad when the issue occurred from 9.7.2.5 to Toad 10.0.
Corrupted User files.
Reset Toad 10 initial setup as a clean install:
1. Close Toad.
2. Browse to default folder - C:\Documents and Settings\<User_Name>\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle.
3. Locate the 10.0 folder and rename it to '10.0_OLD'.
4. Re-launch Toad 10.
5. Re-enter your Toad license key and during initial setup, select the option "Do not copy my user files. Perform a clean install." And click next.
6. Continue with the initial setup and re-test the issue.
To manually migrate connection history, passwords, and SQL history from old settings:
1. Close Toad.
2. Browse to default folder - C:\Documents and Settings\<User_Name>\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle and open the '10.0_OLD' folder.
3. Open the User Files folder and locate the following files and copy them:
* CONNECTIONPWDS.INI
* CONNECTIONS.INI
* SavedSQL.dat
4. Paste the files in the User Files folder of the new '10.0' folder - "C:\Documents and Settings\<User_Name>\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\10.0\User Files" (Replace the existing ones there).
5. Re-launch Toad and your connection information and passwords and SQL history will be back in-tact.
