Error querying a table that contains an invalid date: "Access Violation at address..." (4242017)

When an invalid date exists in the database, if you then try to run a select statement in Toad's editor to retrieve the invalid date, it returns a loop of Access Violation error messages, and the program has to be closed via the Task Manager.

When the same statement is run in SQL*Plus, the following error appears:

ORA-01801: date format is too long for internal buffer
==================================================

Is it possible for Toad to show a similar error message (as above) and not crash when this error occurs?
