Changing between windows inside Toad is very slow. Every time a switch is done from one window to another (or from one open connection to another open connection), the move is very slow and sluggish.
Issues happens on TFO 12.12 and 13.0 on Windows 10. On Windows 7, this seems to be fine.
WORKAROUND 1:
Ensure other programs that may consume a lot of processing power on your machine (i.e. virtual box, antivirus scans, many apps open) are closed -or- manage your open programs to ensure system processing power is prioritized to the app you are currently using.
WORKAROUND 2:
On Toad 13 and higher only – instead of using MDI interface, you can use SDI interface. Go to the Toad Options | General | under ‘Application Style’, select ‘SDI – Multiple windows with a single document frame in each’.
NOTE: The default mode for Toad is MDI, where Toad has a single application window, and all other windows that you open are contained within that application window. Alternatively, you can use SDI mode, where every window opens in its own window, outside the Toad application (you will have many separate Toad windows).
WORKAROUND 3:
Set your screen resolution to a lower setting i.e. from 2560 x 1440 to 1980 x 1200.
WORKAROUND 4:
On Windows 10, right-click ‘This PC’ | ‘Properties’ | ‘Advanced System Settings’ | ‘Advanced’ Tab | under ‘Performance’, click the ‘Settings’ button. Choose ‘Adjust for best performance’. This will disable many visual effects. See if this will make your windows switching faster.
WORKAROUND 5:
Check your video card performance scores and ensure it has sufficient capabilities to handle your software / hardware i.e. if you have dual monitor and both are 4K resolution each, you may need a higher performance video card.
You can check your video card performance scores at:

For Example: NVIDIA NVS310 has a score of 291 (it's significantly lower than most) whereas GeForce GTX 480 has a score of 4359.
