Toad
TOAD frequently "freezes" the display when it is working on a long query -- that is, other applications will run, and TOAD does not appear to be using many CPU cycles, but TOAD does not refresh
the display. If you open another application in front of TOAD, then minimize or close it, TOAD will not refresh the display with it's own window, but will still show the "ghost" of the other application.
RESOLUTION 1:
1. Select View | Options | SQL Editor
2. Enable the following options:
Process Updates, Insert and Delete statements in the background.
Process PL/SQL statements in the background.
RESOLUTION 2:
1. Select View | Options | SQL Editor
2. Enable the "Process statements in threads / allow queries to be cancelled" option. With this option if Toad hangs while a query is being executed, the query can be cancelled. This option will also allow other taks to be performed in Toad while the query is running, so Toad should not freeze at all.
