After upgrading Toad for Oracle to version 12.5 or above, the following message is received.
The Authorization Key and Site Message entered represent a legacy license key, which were used in Toad 9.7 and earlier. The legacy key has a format of 1-12345-12345-12345-12345. This key format is no longer supported starting in Toad 12.5 and need to be upgraded.
Up to May 2014, Toad for Oracle has been able to work with two styles of license key. The “new format” key (introduced in 2009) offers higher encryption and provides greater flexibility. The legacy, or “old format”, license key is being phased out starting with the release of Toad for Oracle 12.5. All old format license keys need to be upgraded to the new format keys if upgrading Toad for Oracle to newer versions.
RESOLUTION 1:
How to upgrade your license key using your license number:
To obtain a new key, please go to the Quest License Key Upgrade page.
Note: The "license number" is different from the license key (or authorization key) you register in Toad. The "license number" is a serial number that is linked to your account, and is usually 9 characters long, alpha numeric (i.e. X75-8AF-354).
RESOLUTION 2:
Locating your license number:
To locate your license number, please review this Knowledge Base article regarding ways to look it up on previous installs.
RESOLUTION 3:
If you can’t locate your license number:
Create a licensing service request on the Licensing Assistance page on the Quest Software support portal. Ask to retrieve your license number, and have your license key upgraded to the new format.
