Varying errors appear when trying to connect to the database.
Toad was working fine and suddenly it is not possible to connect to the database.
There are different errors:
1. Could not load assembly ToadDB2.dll when trying to connect through an imported connection from another Toad version.
2. System.IO.FileLoadException. Could not load file or assembly Quest.Data.DB2.Admin when trying to create a new connection.
It is possible to connect to the database withother Quest products (Spotlight and Quest Central for DB2). The problem also persists after reinstalling Toad and the DB2 clients.
Toad uses theWindows Side by Side dlls installed in the C:\Windows\WinSxs folder. The VC90* libraries are likely to be corrupted on the system. These libraries are installed when Windows .NET 3.5 SP1 is installed.
Any .Net application which uses these libraries will have a problem. Quest Central for DB2 and Spotlight are not written in .NET(which is why its possible to connect to the database with these products).
1]Go to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs
2] Select the.NET 3.5 SP1and click on Repair
3] Re-test the issue (even if the repair fails)
This error will appear in the Event Viewer:
To open Event Viewer, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. Double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Event Viewer.
There will be a side by side error created by Toad.
