While Toad should support Unicode as soon as you install it, you might have environmental limitations that prevent you from seeing certain characters.
If your Windows Operating System and database have been previously configured to support a Unicode Environment, there should be nothing else you need to do. If you are new to the Unicode Environment and do not see Unicode characters in Toad, see the following for troubleshooting.
Supplemental Language Support
In order to view certain characters correctly in Toad, you must have supplemental language support installed for the following languages:
Arabic
Japanese
Armenian
Korean
Chinese
Thai
Georgian
Vietnamese
Hebrew
*Any other right-to-left language
Indic
To install supplemental language support
Open the Regional and Language options window from the Windows Control pane.
Select the Languages tab, and then select the checkbox beside the supplemental languages to install.
Locale Settings
In order to ensure full Toad functionality, set your Operating System Locale to the language you are using.
If you are working with characters that fall outside of your default Locale, you might experience some limitations. If this occurs, you might not be able to save the contents of some windows, and some window captions may contain corrupt strings.
To set the Locale
Open the Regional and Language options window from the Windows Control pane.
Select the Advanced tab, and select a language for non-Unicode programs.
