Upgrading from Toad Data Point version 3.5 to 3.6 and migrating settings. There is a default DB2 Client installed - version 9.7. However, on double-clicking a DB2 connection, one of the following messages may occur:
CAUSE 1: (See RESOLUTION 1)
Earliest DB2 client version supported is 9.7.6. Toad is not recognizing the installed 9.7.0, 9.7.3 DB2 Client. This means that the DB2 catalog profile from Toad Data Point 3.5 (TACOM35) cannot be imported as required for version 3.6.
CAUSE 2: (See RESOLUTION 2)
For versions 3.6 and above, Toad interrogates registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\DB2\GLOBAL_PROFILE\
and/or
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\IBM\DB2\GLOBAL_PROFILE
for key string DB2INSTDEF
If a supported client (9.7.6 onwards) is installed, but the above entry does not exist in the registry, then Toad will display "Toad did not find a supported default DB2 client"
DB2 clients version supported are 9.7.6 through 10.5.
The messages described in the Problem description may also display if there is no external DB2 client installed at all. Toad Data Point 3.6 and above no longer install a sandbox DB2 client. In this case, please also use RESOLUTION 1.
Please see KB Article 128114 on "Toad for DB2 6.0 and newer, DB2 client requirements. 'Did not find a default driver'" for additional information on DB2 client acquisition.
RESOLUTION 1:
Install a newer DB2 runtime client (9.7.6 through 10.5) and import the catalog information from TACOM35. Please see KB Article 132441 for additional information on "How to Create a Toad Connection Profile for DB2"..
RESOLUTION 2:
