After using Export Wizard to export data in pipe delimited format, there are 3 hex characters added to the front of the exported info. What are they, why are they added by Toad, and how can this be avoided?
The characters are BOM (Byte Order Mark) used in unicode files. These are added to the export if a multi byte/unicode File Encoding setting has been set in the export options.
Change the File Encoding setting in the export options that will still fit your data. i.e. change to Western European(Windows)
Default setting for File Encoding changed in Toad for Data Analysts 2.5 from Western European(Windows) to UTF-8.
