Description
The following error occurs when trying to make a connection to an Excel file:
"Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 126: The specified module could not be found. (Microsoft Excel Driver (*.xls, *.xlsx, *.xlsm, *.xlsb), C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\MicrosoftShared\OFFICE16\ACEODBC.DLL)."

Cause
Excel 2010 was installed on the PC, but a newer version of MS Office 2016 was installed (only Skype for Business 2016 installed). Toad was looking for specific DLLs installed with the latest installed Office, but these have not been installed. -
Resolution
WORKAROUND
- Close Toad
- Install Microsoft Access 2016 Runtime (Please note: it must match with Toad, for example, if Toad is 64 bit install the 64 bit version)
- Relaunch Toad
STATUS
When checking for the Excel version installed, we read the registry for the version of Excel application. Then we get the drivers for the bitness of the app. If we find the Microsoft Excel driver we use it. If we don't find, we prompt the user to install. This is as designed and correct behavior. The load error seems to have occurred because the Excel installation was not complete. After investigation, it has been determined that no further action is needed. No defect.
