Why is the Oracle Client tab on the Create New Connection window grayed out?

Cause
You do not have an Oracle client installed on the machine.
Toad Data Point 3.3 and older only supports an Oracle 32bit client.

Resolution
Install a 32-bit Oracle client.
If using an instant client, please also verify that the Instant Client path is correctly noted in the PATH environmental variable. The path to the instant client should be the first path listed in the value, delimited by a ';'.
