Quest still displayed in background process tab, even after the query has stopped running and had returned results. The query list continues to build up. Why do they build up and why does this only happen on some queries, and not all?
The background process list displays the processes still open. Depending on the situation and settings, a process can be left up and displayed. Once it is finished, it should close out from that list.
In many situations, a process or query is noted in the panel and left up when a user is working in the editor and has data displayed in the data grid. The editor only fetches a certain number of records at a time. This will leave the process open, and paused. This "fetch" setting is set under Tools | Options | Database. If a result set is larger than the number of records fetched, the process is paused and the rest of the data is not fetched till the user scrolls for more in the data grid. Once all the data is fetched, grid scrolled down to the last record, then the process will close and disappear from the list.
There may be multiple processes or queries listed, even the same queries at times. This is because, each time a query is run, a new data grid tab is opened, to display the new data set. For each set that is open, and not completely fetched, the query will stay up in the background process list, till the data has been completely fetched for that grid.
