One may create a script that includes NOT NULL for an attribute, but, can one create a script and includes only NULL for an attribute? the default in the server is NOT NULL, if one need a column to accept NULL values it must be specified when creating the column.
For example, when generating sql for a Sybase ASE 16 database. This is an example of the DDL Generated from TOAD
CREATE TABLE NEWCustomReport
(
custom_report_id int NOT NULL,
maint_owner_key char(4)
)
In the above DDL, the field maint_owner_key accepts NULL values, and the custom_report_id is clearly defined as not null.
Now, within the mentioned database, the default nullability of a column is not null unless specifically defined as null.
So, what's needed is generating a DDL that looks like this:
CREATE TABLE NEWCustomReport
(
custom_report_id int NOT NULL,
maint_owner_key char(4) NULL
)
Can one do that?
