Summary

Alerts refer to an e-mail notification service in SharePoint. Users can create alerts to notify them of changes to:

·Lists

·List items

·Document libraries

·Documents

When a user creates an alert, the alert definition enables the user to apply predefined filters. For example, users can create alerts only for items they created or last modified. Alerts can also be added for items that appear in certain views.

A single alert can notify a number of different users.
