Ensuring that SSH is Enabled on Switches

Log in to the switch and check that SSH is enabled.

To check that SSH is enabled on the switch:

Log in to the switch using Telnet.

At the command line, enter the following (the command entered is in bold):
switch-name# show ssh server
The response will be either:
ssh is not enabled
 
ssh is enabled

If SSH is not enabled, complete the following steps:
a
Enter the following command:
switch-name# config t
b
Enter the following configuration commands, one per line:
switch-name(config)# enable ssh server
switch-name(config)# exit

Verify that SSH is enabled by entering the following command:
switch-name# show ssh server
The response should be:
ssh is enabled
Version 2 is enabled

Type Ctrl/Z.

Configuring Agents to Monitor Cisco SAN Switches

During this procedure you create an agent for a Cisco switch. The dialog allows you to create multiple agents for other switches that use the same credentials. For switches in the same Fabric, you need to configure agents to use the same Agent Manager.

Dell Compellent Arrays

Foglight for Storage Management collects information from Dell Compellent arrays using an API provided by Dell Storage Manager or Compellent Enterprise Manager software. A single agent can collect from all the arrays visible in Dell Storage Manager or Enterprise Manager.

Requirements for Dell Compellent Arrays

Your environment must meet the following requirements:

•
For supported Dell Storage Manager or Compellent Enterprise Manager, see Collection Target Support Matrix.
•
Foglight for Storage Management requires a valid Storage Manager or Enterprise Manager user account. Use the Dell Storage Manager or Enterprise Manager Data Collector Manager to configure a user account with Administrator privileges.
•
Storage Manager or Enterprise Manager requires an account with administrative access to add a Compellent Array and to communicate with the array.
