Configuring the excluded list

To configure the Excluded List settings:

Click Edit at the top of the table.
When defining the excluded list for a specific agent, the Excluded Host Editor dialog box appears. When defining the global excluded list for all agents in your environment, the Global Exclude Host Editor dialog box appears. It provides the following information:
•
Hosts that should always be excluded from the scanning.
•
Matching Method used for identifying the hosts in this list.

To add a host or group of hosts to the Excluded List, click New.
a
Select a matching method from the list (IPRange, IPAddress, or Regex).

In the text box, specify the host’s IP range, IP address, or regular expression, according to the matching method specified in Step a.

To save the settings, click OK.
The host is added to the list of hosts to be excluded from scanning.

To modify and existing host, in that host’s row, click the Hosts or the Matching Method column, change the settings as needed, then click OK.

To delete an existing host or group of hosts from the list, select the check box at the beginning of that row, and click Remove.
The selected host is deleted from the list.

To save the changes made to this list, click Save.

Configuring the processes list

To configure the Processes List settings:

Click Edit at the top of the table.
The Global Process Dialog dialog box appears.

To define a new process:
a
Click New process.
b
In the Regex Pattern field specify the regular expression based on which specific processes would be included in or excluded from the process pattern.

Click OK.

To remove a process, select the check box associated with that process and click Remove.

To modify the settings for an existing process, click the Pattern or the Condition column, update the fields as necessary, and click OK.

To save the changes made to this list, click Save.

Configuring the ports list

To configure the Ports List settings:
1
Click Edit at the top of the table.
The Global Port Dialog dialog box appears.

To define a new port:
a
Click New port.
b
Specify the Port Range and select if you want to include or exclude those ports from scanning.

Click OK.

To remove a port from the list, select the check box associated with that port and click Remove.

To modify the settings for a port, click the Port or the Condition column, modify the port range or condition, and click OK.

To save the changes made to this list, click Save.

Editing service dependencies

The Edit Service Dependencies dashboard helps Foglight users with the Advanced Operator role to manually add or ignore dependencies between components inside a selected service and external components.
To access this dashboard, click Edit Service Dependencies on the Dependency Mapping Administration dashboard.

Column Name
Column Description
From
The host or object which is directly dependent on the item in the To column (that is, the dependency client).
To
The host or object which is directly depended upon by the item in the From column (that is, the dependency server).
Detail
Short text summary of the dependency (for example,
httpd.exe->mysql.exe), or the comment written by the creator of the manual dependency.
Click the details link to open the Dependency Detail dialog box. For more information, see Dependency detail.
Dependency Source
Pointer to the agent which created the dependency. If the dependency was manually created, this column displays “Manual Dependency”.
To add dependencies between components inside a service:

Select from the list the service you want to edit.
The dashboard refreshes to show the service components and the dependencies between them.

Click Add a new dependency.
The Add Manual Dependency wizard opens.

On the Select Dependencies page, select the inbound components and the components on which they depend. You can specify up to three dependencies at the time. Click Next.

On the Summary page, review the dependencies manually added and provide comments, if necessary. Click Finish.
The newly defined dependencies are added to the system. They are marked as Manual Dependency in the Dependency Source column. For more information, see Managing global dependencies.
To ignore dependencies inside your service:

Select from the list the service you want to edit.
The dashboard refreshes to show the service components and the dependencies between them.

Select from the list the observed dependencies that you do not want to monitor (select their corresponding check boxes) and click Ignore.
The table refreshes, and now displays only the components of interest. The dependencies removed from your service are added to the list of ignored dependencies (see Dependency Mapping Administration > Manage Global Dependencies > Ignore Dependencies tab). For more information, see Managing global dependencies.
In some cases, ignoring a single dependency may remove many dependencies from a service’s list of affecting dependencies, if the dependency is the only link in a chain to a set of external dependencies.
