This tab shows the immediate dependencies for the selected host or service, along with one additional level of detail. For example, if you select a host and process information has been collected, this graph shows the processes involved in the host’s immediate dependencies grouped by host. For more information about selecting a host or service, see Dependencies tab.

From here, click a host in the dependency graph to investigate its health status, alarms information, and performance information.

Update Service from Dependency Data dashboard

The Service Operations Console > Update Service from Dependency Data dashboard suggests components that could be added or removed from a service, based on dependency data that Foglight for Application Operations collects.
To access the Update Service from Dependency Data dashboard:

In the Service Operations Console dashboard, select a service of interest.

In the action panel, select the General tab and click Actions > Update Service from Dependency Data.
The Update Service from Dependency Data dashboard appears, bringing the selected service as the context.

IMPORTANT: Users can also access this dashboard from the navigation panel: under Dashboards, click Dependency Mapping > Create and Maintain Services > Update Service from Dependency Data.

Edit Service Dependencies dashboard

Use the Service Operations Console > Edit Service Dependencies dashboard to edit dependencies between components inside a service.
To edit your service dependencies:

In the Service Operations Console dashboard, select a service of interest.

In the action panel, select the General tab and click Actions > Edit Service Dependencies Data.
The Edit Service Dependencies dashboard appears, bringing the selected service as the context.

Appendix: Configuring Monitoring of Non-English Windows OS Hosts

If you are planning to run Netstat agents to monitor non-English Windows OS hosts, you must implement a workaround which allows the system to translate the non-English Netstat output into English output.
The workaround consists of the following steps:

Add a new secondary ASP on the Netstat agent as shown in the following table. Use the secondary ASP to map all non-English version status tokens to the English version. The Netstat agent will use this mapping table to translate Netstat output to English version.

If the non-English status token returned includes unknown code, these status codes cannot be translated because they are not defined in the mapping table, which results in unknown status tokens in the translated Netstat output. In this case, the agent logs a warning message with the following format:
Found unknown status code [ABH?REN] in netstat output record [TCP 127.0.0.1:1040 0.0.0.0:0 ABH?REN 3804 [fglam.exe]], it may cause some dependencies are not reported, you may need to configure Agent’s property to include this status code

Users can add all these unknown status codes into the secondary ASP mapping table, so that the Netstat agent can map them back to the correct status string. Users editing this table must be familiar with the meaning of each of the statusType entries. For example, the German word SYN_GESENDET, which corresponds to the English word SYN_SENT should be added into SYN_SENT’s alternateTokens. If several localized tokens should be added for a statusType entry, these tokens should be added to alternateTokens using comma separators.

NOTE: If the status code includes unknown letters, the string may look differently depending on where you open the log file. The best practice is to open the log file on the Foglight Agent Manager server, open the agent configuration page on the Foglight Agent Manager server, then copy and paste its content into the secondary ASP mapping table.
