Connections to SQL Server Replication

Note: This feature requires Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise. Spotlight on SQL Server Replication is available for SQL Server 2005 and later.

To view an existing connection:

» Select the connection from the Recent connections or Connections | Replication menu in the Spotlight Browser.
» This opens the Spotlight Home Page. See "Spotlight on SQL Server Replication Home Page" (page 1) for more information.

To create a connection:

  1. Click Configure | Connections.

  2. In the Connection Bar on the left, click Replication.
  3. Double-click Add new connection.
  4. Complete the connection details:
    Field Description

    Address

    Type the connect string for a distributor database in the replication environment (that is, the Server Name, Server Instance Name, or IP address).

    Windows Authentication (using Diagnostic Server credentials) Select this option to use the user name and password configured on the Spotlight Diagnostic Server to connect to the SQL Server instance.
    User A valid user account on the target system.
    Password

    The password required to connect the specified user to the target system.
