Welcome to Foglight for Container Management

Welcome to Foglight for Container Management

Containers is a method of an operating system virtualization that allows you to run an application and the dependencies in a resource-isolated process. Foglight® for Container Management simplifies this process by tracking each container, the resources it consumes and the remaining compute of the container host. Moreover, it provides a cluster information and the pre-configured rules with notifications that identifies the problem of your clusters.

 

This Release Notes covers the resolved issues, known issues, workarounds and some other important information about the 2.0.0 release of Foglight for Container Management. Review all sections before starting installation. 

 

Foglight for Container Management supports the following container platforms for Kubernetes Agent:

  • Local Kubernetes
  • Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
  • Google Cloud Platform Container Engine (GKE)
  • IBM Cloud Kubernetes Services
  • Amazon Elastic Container Service for Kubernetes (Amazon EKS)
  • The Origin Community Distribution of Kubernetes that powers Red Hat OpenShift (OKD)

Foglight for Container Management supports the following container platforms for Docker Swarm Agent:

  • Docker Swarm clusters locally or on the cloud platforms
  • Docker Host that does not join any Swarm cluster

Note: Windows containers are not supported in this release.

  


New in this release

New in this release

This 2.0.0 release of Foglight for Container Management accompanies the release of Foglight Evolve 9.0. It includes Foglight for Container Management for Kubernetes (GA release) and Foglight for Container Management for Docker Swarm (Technical Preview release). This release includes following new features and improvements:

Foglight for Container Management for Kubernetes

  • Added an Optimizer tab to Kubernetes environment. (CON-611)
  • Added an Event tab to the Explore view of Clusters, Nodes, and Pods in Kubernetes environment. Added some Event analytics charts to the Summary view of Clusters. (CON-431)
  • Added Capacity Management tab to Kubernetes environment. (CON-690)
  • Added a resource allocatable table to Kubernetes Nodes Summary view. (CON-495)

Note: To access the Optimizer and Capacity Management tab, Container Administrator role is required.

 

Foglight for Container Management for Docker Swarm

This release contains no new features or improvements for Foglight for Container Management for Docker Swarm.
