Lately Support is observing some different connectivity errors raised from old previous Oracle Client version against the new Oracle DB 18c and 19c. These errors could be like:
'First Pass Login' - ORA-28040: no matching authentication protocol
"Any Login error" - ORA-01017: invalid username/password
'While fetching object' - ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve service name.The first test to do, is trying the client connectivity from sqlplus that should return the error ORA-28040. This point us to focus on the Oracle Client connectivity and then apply any of the solution below.
