To force SQL Optimizer to not check for updates and send user feedback at first launch, the below registry keys can be modified:
-Check for updates:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Quest Software\Quest SQL Optimizer for Oracle\9.2.1\Preferences\Common
Key: Perform Check for Updates at startup
-User Experience Feedback:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Quest Software\Quest SQL Optimizer for Oracle\9.2.1\Preferences\User Experience Feedback
Values for keys:
F=deactivated
T=activated
The following steps can be taken to apply the above in the case of an installation package deployment:
1) First install SQL Optimizer, run it and disable the unwanted checks. Quit the program.
2) Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Quest Software\Quest SQL Optimizer for Oracle and then export the whole registry folder to a .reg file.
3) Add that .reg file to the packaged installer, and set it to run right after the installation is completed.
The above steps were designed for SQL Optimizer version 9.2.1, but should also be applicable to more recent versions.
