Optimizer locks up when updating. -
Description
On launch, a dialog box appeared notifying the user of an available update. After clicking yes to try and upgrade, the following error is given:
"The following unhandled error has occured:
ActiveX control '8856f961-340a-11d0-a96b-00c04fd705a2' cannot be instantiated because the current thread is not in a single-threaded apartment. the program locked up and I had to use task manager to kill it."

Resolution
WORKAROUND
Click No in the dialogue box prompting to update. Manually go to the Support Portal to review and download the latest available version of SQL Optimizer for Oracle.
STATUS
Fixed in the version 8.8 of SQL Optimizer for Oracle. The latest version can be download using the Support Portal link above.

On the download page, you can download either the 32-bit or 64-bit versions. This relates to the which Oracle client will be used when accessing Optimizer.
