Is it possible to add Window 7's "jump list" function in SQL Navigator? -
Description
Is it possible for SQL Navigator to take advantage of Windows 7's Jump Lists feature so that the user can pin specific connections, so then when it is clicked from the Jump List, it will automatically open SQL Navigator and already be logged in to that instance; avoiding the Connection Manager screen all together.
In the case if the password is not stored or cannot be stored from the Jump List, then to have a prompt for a password to the database. -
Resolution
According to Microsoft MSDN doc, it would not be possible to implement a jump list functionality for SQL Navigator. Pinning is supposed to be a 'user' action and not done by apps.
STATUS:
Enhancement Request ST13097 has been submitted to Development for consideration in a future release of SQL Navigator. -

Below is a link from the MSDN document:
'A small set of applications are pinned by default for new installations. Other than these, only the user can pin further applications; programmatic pinning by an application is not permitted.'At this time, there isn’t an API available provided by Microsoft for Quest to use. If this changes and Microsoft allow application to pin programmatically then we will look into this feature and put it into consideration.
