Spotlight on Unix v2.0 in the Disk Activity drilldown, the disk reads and disk writes look exactly identical at all times.
On AIX 5.x, the "sar -d" command is used to calculate disk activity. This command returns only the total IO on each disk, not split into reads and writes. Spotlight is approximating the read/write values by averaging the returned value, and therefore giving equal values for the reads and writes - this is a clear bug. It affects the two disk IO flows on the home page and the Disk Reads and Disk Writes charts on the Disk drilldown. Alarm calculations are not affected.
WORKAROUND:
None
STATUS:
Waiting for fix in a future release of Spotlight on Unix.
